Québec and its challenges. Document 2 Possible solutions, spend more effectively and better fund our public services

Summary: The Advisory Committee on the Economy and Public Finances, established by the Minister of Finance in conjunction with the 2010-2011 prebudgetary consultation, comprises Pierre Fortin, Robert Gagné, Luc Godbout and Claude Montmarquette and is co-chaired by the Minister and Robert Gagné. The committee is pursuing the process initiated in November 2009. In the first document, made public in December 2009, the committee defined the question that the Minister submitted to it by illustrating with concrete examples the current state of Québec's public finances and presenting a number of statistical observations. In the second phase of its approach, the committee has decided to focus its reflection on two possible solutions pertaining to expenditures and the funding of public services.
